Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Warfarer: Every Weapon, One Bar

Grandmaster's Path, Rearmament, multi-weapon builds, and why six slots change everything.

Warfarer

Warfarer is Dragon’s Dogma 2’s hybrid vocation — the one that can equip any weapon type and slot skills from any other job. You unlock it by finding Lamond in Geyser Hamlet, giving him three Newt Liqueur, then keeping the conversation going until he hands over the Grandmaster’s Path scroll. That scroll teaches Rearmament, the signature skill that lets Warfarer swap weapon sets mid-combat. Title Update 3.2 gives Warfarer its biggest quality-of-life change: six skill slots instead of four, so Rearmament no longer eats a quarter of your bar.

This page is a complete Warfarer read: how to unlock, how Rearmament works, what weapons to carry, how to build a bar that does not fall apart when you swap, and how the class fits into Norgan relic hunting and Lost Rites dungeon runs. Rankings and comparative strength sit on vocation ranks; builds that survive red-glow rooms are on endgame builds.

How to unlock Warfarer

The unlock chain is short but easy to miss:

  1. Find Lamond at Geyser Hamlet. He sits near the hot springs area, not inside a building.
  2. Acquire three Newt Liqueur. These are potions found in the world, purchased from shops, or crafted. They are not rare but they are specific — regular potions will not work.
  3. Give Lamond all three. He thanks you and mentions the Grandmaster’s Path.
  4. Keep talking to him. The conversation continues after the gift and he eventually hands over the Grandmaster’s Path scroll.
  5. Learn the scroll. Use it from your inventory to unlock Warfarer and the Rearmament skill.

Once Warfarer is active, you can equip any weapon type and use weapon skills from any vocation. The Arisen can carry a greatsword, a bow, and a dagger on the same loadout. Pawns cannot unlock Warfarer — only the Arisen uses it.

Rearmament: the signature skill

Rearmament lets Warfarer swap to a different weapon mid-fight without opening the menu. It occupies one skill slot. In 2024 that meant one slot eaten by the swap and only three real tools remaining. At six slots Warfarer keeps Rearmament and still has five attacks, heals, or utility buttons — the class becomes genuinely playable instead of a curiosity.

Mechanically:

  • Press the Rearmament hotkey to swap to your secondary weapon set.
  • Each weapon set has its own equipped skills. You can pre-load a bow build and a melee build separately.
  • The swap is instant in animation — you are not frozen while the game loads a new model.
  • Reload the page for the exact input chord; it varies by platform and control scheme.

Rearmament also works in the air, during climbs, and during stagger states. The practical use is covering your weakness: equip a bow for the approach, swap to a greatsword when you land on a Giant.

Six-slot bar: what changes

Warfarer benefits more from Title Update 3.2 than any other vocation:

  • At four slots: Rearmament + three tools. The class felt like you were playing one-handed.
  • At six slots: Rearmament + five tools. You can carry a primary weapon with three skills, a secondary with one skill, and a safety button — without cutting anything important.

The intended six-slot Warfarer bar looks like: primary weapon (3 skills) + secondary weapon (1 skill) + Rearmament + one utility (climb, heal, or knockdown). That is a loadout that covers ranged approach, melee punish, and a safety net without any slot doing double duty.

Weapons and stat trade-offs

Warfarer can equip every weapon type but suffers a 10% stat penalty compared to a vocation-native wielder. A Warrior with Dragon’s Bite hits harder than a Warfarer with Dragon’s Bite. This is not a bug — it is the price of flexibility.

Practical weapon pairs:

  • Greatsword + daggers: burst on weak points after a climb, then dagger-stab while waiting for cooldowns.
  • Bow + spear: ranged approach with Mystic Spearhand-style dash attacks in melee range.
  • Sword and shield + censer: the Trickster-adjacent hybrid for pawn-command play with a defensive option.
  • Dual-weapon swap: Warfarer cannot natively dual-wield, but Rearmament lets you pre-load two one-handed weapons and swap between them.

The penalty means Warfarer is best when the weapon’s raw damage matters less than the skill attached to it. A relic dagger with a unique skill is still valuable even at 90% effectiveness. A base-game greatsword where you needed every stat point is worse.

Relic weapons and Warfarer

Dark Arisen relic weapons roll random stats, effects, and sometimes unique or upgraded skills. Warfarer is the class that benefits most from this lottery: you can equip a relic bow with a custom skill, a relic greatsword with another, and use Rearmament to access both in one bar.

Preview footage showed a Magick Archer bow ( Singular Sanguine Radiance ) arrive with three skills and a visible power spike. Warfarer can run that bow and still keep a melee weapon for climbs. No other vocation can do that without the menu.

Read Relics for the appraisal loop and Norgan for where to farm. The short version: appraise at Jiera in the Norgandian Settlement, budget Rift Crystals, and stash bad rolls instead of equipping them.

Norgan and Lost Rites: where Warfarer fits

Norgan wants:

  • Climbing for the Norgan Giant.
  • Ranged for Fimbl and flying pests.
  • Cold resist answers in snowstorms.

Warfarer handles all three without a menu swap if you pack correctly. The cold reality is that stamina drains faster when frozen, so carrying a shield or a backup weapon matters more in the snow than on the base map.

Lost Rites want burst for red-glow packs and sustained damage for bosses. Warfarer’s flexibility lets you build for the specific trial: ranged for flying-heavy rooms, melee for enclosed spaces. The six-slot bar means you do not have to choose between a relic toy and a reliable bread-and-butter skill.

Augments and inclination

Warfarer augments should reflect your primary weapon’s needs. If you run a greatsword as the main, grab Warrior-line strength augments. If you lean on a bow, grab Archer-line precision augments. The vocation’s own augment line is built around weapon versatility, not raw damage.

Inclination matters more for Warfarer than for pure vocations because pawn behavior during a weapon swap can be unpredictable. A Warfarer Arisen who swaps from bow to dagger mid-fight may confuse a Guardian inclination pawn who expects the Arisen to hold range. Medicant or Scather may respond better to the style.

Pawns and Warfarer

Your main pawn should cover what Warfarer cannot: a pure damage dealer or a dedicated climber while you handle the swap-and-punish loop. Trickster pawns are poor partners for Warfarer because both want the Arisen to control positioning, and Warfarer is already busy managing weapon sets.

Hired pawns should have cold resist for Norgan and should not share your secondary weapon type if you are relying on a pawn for the damage your Warfarer sacrifices. A Warfarer with a bow and a greatsword should not hire a Sorcerer who also wants the great room.

Quick-start build for October 9

  1. Unlock Warfarer before you enter Norgan (Lamond is in the base game world).
  2. Set primary: your best available weapon + three skills.
  3. Set secondary: a weapon that covers your primary’s gap.
  4. Slot Rearmament and one safety tool.
  5. Enter Norgan around level 40.
  6. Appraise relics at Jiera before you assume a bad roll is final.
  7. Test relic skills in an early Lost Rite before you refactor the bar.

Warfarer is the class that rewards knowing every vocation’s toolkit. It is not the best at any one thing. It is the best at carrying two things at once without a menu. That is enough for Norgan if you build it honestly.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before the October 9, 2026 launch.

How do I unlock Warfarer?

Find Lamond at Geyser Hamlet, give him three Newt Liqueur, then keep talking until he gives you the Grandmaster's Path scroll. Learn the scroll to unlock Warfarer and the Rearmament skill.

Does Warfarer still lose a skill slot to Rearmament?

Yes, but at six slots from Title Update 3.2, you keep five real tools. At four slots it ate 25% of your bar. At six it takes 16%.

Can pawns use Warfarer?

No. Only the Arisen can unlock and equip Warfarer. Pawns are locked to their assigned vocation.

What weapon pairs work best for Warfarer?

Greatsword + daggers (burst and follow-through), bow + spear (ranged and dash), or sword and shield + censer (defensive hybrid). The 10% stat penalty means raw damage matters less than skill access.

Is Warfarer good in Dark Arisen?

Warfarer is the class best positioned to use relic weapons from Norgan. A relic bow with a unique skill plus a melee weapon for climbs, all on one bar, is exactly what the class does. See relics and Norgan.

What is the stat penalty for Warfarer?

A 10% reduction in weapon effectiveness compared to a native vocation user with the same weapon. It is the price of multi-weapon flexibility.
