Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Updates Hub
Title updates already in the base game, the October 9 expansion window, and Hard Mode still in development.
This hub is the calendar for Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. The paid expansion still launches October 9, 2026. Two free title updates landed first, on purpose, so the 2024 campaign would already have Eternal Ferrystones, extra save slots, and six weapon skills when Norgan opens. A Hard Mode is in development after launch for level-cap players; it is not confirmed as part of the October 9 package.
Mix those dates and you will wait for the wrong thing. This page exists so you do not.
Pages in this hub
- Release date — October 9, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2, plus pricing, time-zone notes, and how long Capcom says the new content runs.
- Title updates — the June patch (Eternal Ferrystone and extra Portcrystals) and the late-August patch that went live at the start of September (six skill slots, three save slots, Dragonsplague tweaks, performance, 60 FPS notes).
- Hard Mode — post-launch work for players at the level cap, with Oyama’s own caution that details and timing come later.
- Previews — Gamescom 2026 hands-on, the Commotion in Norgan demo beat, Switch 2 footage, and what media actually played.
If you only want to buy something, skip to pre-order. If you only want to know whether your PC will move, skip to system requirements. This hub is for when systems change, not for how to swing a sword.
The timeline that actually matters
March 2024. Dragon’s Dogma 2, the base campaign, arrives to strong combat praise and mixed Steam reviews. The complaints that stuck were thin late-game loot, four skill slots, one save file, scarce Ferrystones, and Dragonsplague jumpscares. Dark Arisen is Capcom’s designed answer, not a community patch.
June 2026. A free title update adds the Eternal Ferrystone and more Portcrystals. Fast travel stops being a consumable tax. Kinoshita has said they are not forcing you to use it; the stone is there if you want the north to be a commute instead of a pilgrimage.
Late August 2026 (Title Update 3.2, which went live at the start of September). Weapon skills go from four equipped to six. Save slots go from one Arisen to three separate Arisen, each with Autosave, Interim Save, and Last Inn Rest Save — not three copies of the same hero. Dragonsplague gets a clearer cure path. Performance work lands across platforms; Oyama mentioned a 60 FPS performance mode on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Pawn AI and vocation-by-vocation tweaks ride along.
October 9, 2026. Dark Arisen ships. Norgan (Forsaken Dominion), twelve Lost Rites on the base map, relic appraisal at Jiera, new hairstyles and tattoos. $29.99 DLC if you already own the campaign; $49.99 bundle if you do not. Switch 2 includes both. No new vocations.
After launch. Hard Mode in development for people who have already hit the level cap. Treat every “Hard Mode on day one” thumbnail as wrong until Capcom posts a patch that contains it.
What is free versus what you pay for
Six skills, extra saves, the Eternal Ferrystone, extra Portcrystals, Dragonsplague adjustments, and the performance pass are title updates. You do not buy Dark Arisen to get them. You should still install them before you walk into Norgan, because the expansion’s enemies and relic skills are designed around the six-slot bar.
Norgan, Lost Rites, relic appraisal, and the new creator options are the paid expansion. Pre-order cosmetics (Norgan Fashion Set / Northern Attire) sit on top of that purchase and land in inn storage; they are not a fourth title update.
How to read patch notes without getting baited
- If a note mentions Ferrystones, Portcrystals, skill slots, or save slots, it is probably a 2026 base-game update. Log in and take it.
- If a note mentions Jiera, relics, Forsaken Dominion, Eir, or sealed Lost Rites doors, it is the October 9 expansion.
- If a note mentions Hard Mode, it is later, unless the official patch text explicitly includes it.
- If a note mentions a new vocation, it is wrong. Oyama has already closed that door.
Director Kento Kinoshita (who also directed the 2013 Dark Arisen) and producer Naoto Oyama have been the two names on these reveals. When they contradict a leaker, believe them.
What to do this week
- Confirm your storefront and SKU on platforms so you are not double-buying the bundle.
- Install the latest title update so six skills and extra saves exist on your Arisen before you plan a vocation rank.
- Read getting started if you have not touched the 2024 campaign since launch week.
- Leave Hard Mode off your October 9 checklist. Put Norgan and relics on it instead.
The rest of the wiki — characters, comps, PC specs — assumes this calendar. If a paragraph anywhere on the site sounds like the expansion already shipped, it is out of date. The date is still October 9, 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before the October 9, 2026 launch.
Has Dark Arisen launched yet?
No. The expansion launches October 9, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. Free title updates in 2026 are not the expansion.
Do I need to buy the DLC to get six skill slots?
No. The late-August title update raised equipped weapon skills from four to six in the base game. Dark Arisen then builds Norgan around that bar.
Is Hard Mode in the October 9 download?
Not confirmed. Capcom has said Hard Mode is in development after launch for level-cap players. Do not expect it as a day-one checkbox unless an official patch lists it.
Which update added the Eternal Ferrystone?
The June 2026 title update, along with extra Portcrystals. It is a free base-game change, not a Dark Arisen exclusive.
Where do I go for the actual calendar date and price?
The release date page for October 9, platforms, and SKUs. The pre-order page for the $29.99 DLC, $49.99 bundle, and Norgan Fashion Set.
