Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Eir, pursuer in the north
The named hunter you meet in Norgan — facts from Capcom, not a fan-scripted biography.
Eir is the human name Dark Arisen puts on the snow. Capcom’s official site lists her beside the Arisen and the Fallen Dragon as one of three character pillars for the Forsaken Dominion. Director Kento Kinoshita’s version of the pitch is that you travel to Norgan, the abandoned far north, and join this enigmatic woman as she pursues a wyrm that should already be dead. That is the entire confirmed job description before October 9, 2026. Everything else on the internet is inference, cosplay, or a different game.
This page stays inside that box on purpose. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen has not launched. We will not write Eir a childhood, a vocation rank, or a romance flag and then hide it behind a fake spoiler tag.
What Capcom has actually said
- Name and role. Eir is the pursuer. You are asked to join forces with her to unravel the Fallen Dragon, not to replace her as the northern protagonist.
- Setting. The hunt takes place in Norgan, a frigid, long-abandoned region added north of the 2024 map. Official copy also uses the banner Forsaken Dominion for this tale of ruin.
- Tone. Trailers and the June 2026 showcase present her as already in motion when the Arisen arrives. She is not a tavern quest-giver waiting for you to click. She is mid-hunt.
- Gameplay around her. The mechanical loop you run while that hunt plays out is the Relic Expedition Cycle: kill and explore, bring unidentified spoils to Jiera for Rift Crystal appraisal, then walk back into the snow heavier. Eir is the story reason to stay; relics are the systems reason.
Kinoshita has framed the dragon’s hollow chest as the “heart” of the tale and Eir’s pursuit as the question that chest creates. Why does she chase a wyrm with no heart? The expansion exists to answer that in play, not in a wiki paragraph.
How she sits next to you, mechanically
Dark Arisen is still a single-player action RPG. Eir is not a fourth pawn slot you customize in the creator, and she is not an eleventh vocation. Your fighting party remains the Arisen plus up to three AI pawns. If Eir walks with you in a mission, she is a story actor with whatever scripting Capcom gives her — the same way key NPCs already appear in Vermund and Battahl — not a Rift hire with inclinations you can tune.
That distinction matters for build pages. Do not plan a party composition that assumes “Eir tanks.” Plan Fighter, Mage, and a flex pawn the way you always would, then let the northern plot put Eir where the directors want her. If launch-week quests give her a guest bar, we will update this page with that bar. Until then, your damage plan is still Magick Archer or Warfarer or whatever you actually play; see vocation ranks.
Norgan access and when you meet her
Capcom has not required you to finish the entire 2024 campaign before stepping north. Interviews note that speaking with Brant at the Vernworth tavern at night can send you toward Norgan, with a level 40 recommendation rather than a hard lock. Lost Rites doors on the old map open around level 20 and are a separate track. Practically, that means some Arisen will meet Eir while they still have unfinished Vermund business, and some will meet her after the Unmoored World. The character page does not change; your context does.
If you are not yet in that level band, stay on getting started and how to play. Eir will still be in the snow on October 9.
What Eir is not
- Not a 2013 carry-over. The original Dark Arisen expansion on Bitterblack Isle had its own cast (Daimon, Olra, and the rest). Reusing the subtitle does not reuse those people. Eir is a 2026 name.
- Not the Pathfinder. Lost Rites are trials “designed by the Pathfinder.” Eir’s hunt is the Norgan story. Do not collapse those plots because both are new.
- Not Jiera. Jiera is the wise woman who appraises relics for crystals. Eir pursues the dragon. Different jobs, both northern.
- Not your Main Pawn. New hairstyles and tattoos in the creator let you look like a northern hunter. They do not turn your pawn into Eir.
How to prepare without spoiling yourself
- Learn Norgan’s weather and relic loop so you are not reading subtitle text while freezing. The Norgan guide exists for that.
- Bring a party that can fight large bodies and mixed packs, because the hunt is not a cutscene tour. Pawns and six-skill loadouts on endgame builds cover the kit.
- Read the Fallen Dragon page next so you understand why “aim at the heart” may be the wrong instinct.
- Keep the release date page bookmarked. Nothing about Eir is playable in the full expansion until October 9, 2026, even if you already own the 2024 campaign and already pre-ordered.
Hands-on previews spent more minutes on relics, snow, and skill slots than on Eir’s dialogue, which is a tell. Capcom is selling a loop and a mystery, not a visual-novel route map. Expect her to push you toward the hollow-chested wyrm and toward the question of how it still moves. Do not expect this wiki to answer that question before the disc (or the download) does.
When the expansion launches we will add quest names, whether she can fall in combat, and whether any relic flavor text refers to her hunt. Until then, the accurate sentence remains the official one: in the snowy north, you join Eir to unravel the Fallen Dragon.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before the October 9, 2026 launch.
Is Eir playable as the Arisen?
No. You remain the Arisen. Eir is the northern story partner Capcom named in Dark Arisen materials, not a new player character.
Can I hire Eir as a pawn from the Rift?
There is no official pawn listing for Eir. Pawns are AI companions you create or hire. Treat Eir as a scripted story figure until a shipped quest says otherwise.
Does Eir replace the Pathfinder?
No. Lost Rites are Pathfinder dungeon trials on the base map. Eir's pursuit is the Norgan story. They are two pillars of the same expansion, not one NPC.
When do I meet her?
In Norgan, the Forsaken Dominion added for Dark Arisen. You can be pointed north via Brant in Vernworth without finishing every base-game quest. Capcom still recommends about level 40.
Is this the same character as Olra from the 2013 Dark Arisen?
No. This is Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a 2026 expansion. Eir is a new name in a new region. Do not import 2013 biographies.
