Map and Locations

Dragon’s Dogma 2 features a large open world divided into three main regions: the human kingdom of Vermund in the north, the Beastren nation of Battahl in the southwest, and the volcanic Agamen Islands in the south. This page covers major locations, fast-travel points, and region-specific landmarks. For a detailed walkthrough of story progression, see the walkthrough page.

World structure

The world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is significantly larger than the original game. Travel between regions requires crossing mountain passes, using Portcrystals, or taking oxcarts. The world is divided into the following main areas:

  • Northern Vermund — The starting region containing the capital Vernworth
  • Battahl — The Beastren nation accessible via mountain border
  • Agamen Volcanic Island — The southern volcanic region
  • Unmoored World — Post-game region (available after completing the main story)

Vernworth

Vernworth is the capital city of Vermund and the first major settlement players encounter. It is a large human city with distinct quarters.

The Merchant Quarter

The starting area of Vernworth. Shops, basic services, and the first glimpse of city life. The Stardrop Inn is located here — an important rest point early in the game.

The Noble Quarter

Upper-class district with wealthy NPCs and贵族 quests. Many side quests originate here. The Vocation Guild is located in this quarter for changing classes.

The Slums

Lower district with bargain shops and unique characters. Several important side quests begin in the slums, including The Gift of Giving and Saint of the Slums.

Vernworth Castle

The seat of the Sovran. Story-critical location for main quest progression. Access is restricted during certain story phases.

Borderwatch Outpost

The first major checkpoint after escaping the excavation site. Captain Brant directs you here. Key features:

  • Inn and supply shops
  • Quest giver Phill (Ordeals of a New Recruit)
  • Morris’s Apothecary (Prey for the Pack quest)
  • Gateway to Vernund

Checkpoint Rest Town

A mid-game settlement serving as the border between Vermund and Battahl. Features:

  • Inn and smithy
  • Quest givers including Myrddin (The Sorcerer’s Appraisal)
  • Portcrystal location
  • Gateway to Battahl

Northern Vermund

The wilderness areas north of Vernworth. Notable locations:

  • Moonglow Garden — Beren’s training grounds
  • Beren’s Tent — Quest hub for the Claw Them Into Shape chain
  • Ancient Battleground — Location for Tolled to Rest quest

Battahl

The Beastren nation is home to the lion-like Beastren race. The architecture and culture differ significantly from human Vermund.

Bakbattahl

The main city of Battahl. Features:

  • Flamebearer Palace — Political center and quest hub
  • Brokkr’s Smithy — Advanced weapon upgrades
  • House purchasable after completing Shadowed Prayers
  • Key NPCs including Menella and the guards

Mountain Pass

The route between Vermund and Battahl. Watch for bandit ambushes and environmental hazards. The Sphinx’s Mountain Shrine is accessible from this area.

Agamen Volcanic Island

The southern volcanic region is the hottest and most dangerous area in the game.

Volcanic Island Camp

The main settlement. Services include inn, storage, and quest givers.

Key Volcanic Landmarks

  • Lava rivers requiring specific paths
  • Ash storms reducing visibility
  • Unique enemies adapted to volcanic environment
  • The final acts of the main story take place here

Portcrystal Locations

Portcrystals enable fast travel across the map. Finding and placing them is essential for efficient exploration.

Fixed Portcrystal Locations

Quest-Obtained Portcrystals

Placing Your Own Portcrystals

The game allows placing a limited number of Portcrystals. The Eternal Ferrystone from the June 2026 title update enables unlimited warps to placed crystals. See title updates for details.

Sacred Arbor

The home of the Elf-like Elf race. Located in a forest region. Features:

  • Unique shop with elf-specific items
  • Quests related to the Arborheart tree
  • The Ailing Arborheart quest chain

Mountain Shrine (Sphinx)

The Sphinx’s location. Solve riddles for gold and items. The A Game of Wits quest takes place here. The Sphinx is one of the most rewarding optional encounters in the game.
