Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Mystic Spearhand: Dash, Mirour Vesture, and Magick-Blade

Fast duospear attacks, a magick shield, and why Mystic Spearhand is the most mobile melee pick in Norgan.

Mystic Spearhand

Mystic Spearhand is the mobile magick-melee vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The duospear lets you dash in, strike, and reposition faster than any other melee class. The signature tool is Mirour Vesture — a magick barrier that reflects projectiles and reduces incoming damage. At six slots from Title Update 3.2, Mystic Spearhand can keep Mirour Vesture active without dropping a damage tool, which was the main complaint about the class in 2024. Dark Arisen (October 9, 2026) adds relic duospears that can roll unique or upgraded skills after Jiera appraises them.

This page covers Mystic Spearhand mechanics, skill priorities, Norgan preparations, and how to build a Mystic Spearhand that does not sacrifice defense for damage. Vocation overview

Mystic Spearhand uses duospears. The class is fast, mobile, and has the only magick-reflect tool in the game: Mirour Vesture. It alternates between physical and magickal attacks in its base combo, making it a hybrid by design. The dash mechanic is the differentiator — you are never stuck in place.

Core Mystic Spearhand traits:

  • Fast dash attacks — the duospear dash is the quickest gap-closer in melee.
  • Mirour Vesture — a magick barrier that reflects projectiles and reduces incoming magick damage. Unique in the game.
  • Hybrid damage — base combo alternates physical and magick hits, scaling with both stats.
  • Six skill slots from TU3.2 make the class viable without cutting Mirour Vesture.
  • No ranged baseline — like Thief, you need a plan for flying enemies.

Skills and the six-slot bar

Title Update 3.2 raised the equipped skill cap from four to six. Mystic Spearhand skills worth carrying:

Mirour Vesture (core skill) — A magick barrier that reflects projectiles and reduces incoming magick damage. At four slots it competed with damage tools and often lost. At six slots you keep it and still have five real tools. Keep it active against spell-casting enemies.

Abysmal Harvest (core skill) — A duospear dash attack that deals magick damage and has a short cooldown. The primary damage and gap-closer tool.

Flare Strike — A fire-elemental duospear skill. Good for applying burn and extra magick damage.

Visions Flock — A multi-hit combo that delivers several strikes in quick succession. High damage per combo but committed.

Immaterial Suasion — A magick-based duospear skill with a knockdown component. Useful for controlling rush enemies.

One ranged tool — Mystic Spearhand has no native ranged option. Carry a bow skill or accept that flyers are a pawn problem.

At six slots, the intended Mystic Spearhand bar looks like:

  1. Mirour Vesture (core, magick defense).
  2. Abysmal Harvest (core, dash-gap-closer and primary damage).
  3. Flare Strike or Visions Flock (damage skill).
  4. Immaterial Suasion (crowd control).
  5. One elemental or utility tool.
  6. One ranged skill (flyer answer).

Norgan and mobile melee

The Norgan Giant fight needs mobility. Mystic Spearhand’s dash gets you onto the Giant faster than any other class, and Mirour Vesture reduces the damage from the freeze breath if you time it right.

How a Mystic Spearhand handles the Giant:

  • Dash onto the Giant. Abysmal Harvest is the fastest mount tool in the game.
  • Keep Mirour Vesture active during the climb. It reduces incoming damage while you are on the body.
  • Use Imprecate skills on the weak point. Once on the head, Visions Flock delivers fast hits.
  • Dash off for freeze breath. Mystic Spearhand is fast enough to dismount before the freeze window.
  • Use Mirour Vesture against spell casters. Fimbl and electric saurians are the relevant targets.

Gear and augment priorities

Best weapons:

  • Lindworm Fang (430 Strength, 405 Magick, 110 Crystals) — the best duospear from the Dragonforged for hybrid builds.
  • Dragon’s Fist (300 Strength, 300 Magick) — a solid mid-game duospear with balanced hybrid stats.
  • Duospear (45 Strength, 45 Magick) — the basic duospear, viable early game.

Augments: prioritize Magick and then Strength for hybrid builds, or focus Stamina for survivability. The Mystic Spearhand augment line rewards magick potency and mobility.

Mystic Spearhand as a pawn

A Mystic Spearhand pawn hired from the Rift is a mobile damage dealer with a magick defense tool. The difference is that you control the Arisen’s positioning directly, so the Mystic Spearhand pawn should be given the gap-closing and mob-control role while you handle the Arisen.

Inclination priorities for a Mystic Spearhand pawn:

  • Scather — attacks larger enemies, good for Giant and boss fights.
  • Challenger — targets enemy weaknesses.
  • Utilitarian — covers a mix of damage and utility if the party lacks depth.

For pawn management and inclination tuning see Pawns. For party composition strategy see party compositions.

How Mystic Spearhand compares to Thief

Mystic Spearhand and Thief both use daggers or duospears and both are mobile melee classes. The difference:

  • Mystic Spearhand: duospear dash, Mirour Vesture magick reflect, hybrid physical-magick damage. More defense.
  • Thief: dual daggers, highest attack speed, best climb damage, no magick tool. Pure physical.

For Norgan, Mystic Spearhand is the more defensive mobile pick. Thief is the pure damage-and-climb pick. See vocation ranks for the current tier context.

First-day checklist for Mystic Spearhand in Dark Arisen

  1. Enter Norgan around level 40.
  2. Confirm six skill slots are active in the vocation menu.
  3. Set Mirour Vesture and Abysmal Harvest as the non-negotiable core.
  4. Keep Mirour Vesture active against spell-casting enemies.
  5. Use dash attacks to mount Giants faster than any other class.
  6. Appraise relic duospears at Jiera for ones that roll hybrid stats (see Relics).
  7. Carry a ranged skill for flyers.

Mystic Spearhand in Dark Arisen is the class that is never in the wrong place. That is a useful thing to be.
